About

I am Daphne Skipper, a stay-at-home mom of two little girls, ages 5 and 2.  Yoga plays a big role in my life.  Besides teaching 2 to 4 classes most weeks, I do as much yoga on my own and in classes as time allows.  Yoga keeps my body fit for the physical challenges of parenting.   It also keeps me emotionally centered so that I can respond more appropriately to the “demands” of my children: with patience and empathy, or with gentle but firm boundaries.  My husband is only half-joking when he asks if I’d like to go to yoga on nights when I’m not-so-pleasant-to-be-around.  He knows he will get a much sweeter version of his wife in two hours if he can get me out the door!

I completed my 200-hour Basic Pranakriya Yoga Teacher Training at Radiant Well-being Yoga Center in North Augusta, which is where I take most of my classes.  I can’t say enough about the quality of teaching at Radiant Well-being.  Founder Yoganand Michael Carroll has lived yoga all of his adult life.  He directed the teacher training at Kripalu Center, the largest residential yoga center in the U.S., before moving “home” to North Augusta.  I have been teaching yoga since finishing teacher training in August 2007, and I am in the process of registering with the Yoga Alliance as a RYT200, Registered Yoga Teacher with 200 hours of training.

I am also certified as a Prenatal Yoga Teacher.  I did yoga during both my pregnancies, and prenatal classes were amazing for me.  In a world where most folks either ignore your pregnancy or treat it as a medical condition, this was a place where I was encouraged to revel in the miracle I was living.  I knew that I would want to take my teaching in this direction when I got the chance.  The chance arose in April 2008 when Jacci Reynolds came to Radiant Well-being Yoga Center to offer prenatal teacher training.

I am working to build a community of expectant moms who are willing to share this amazing time in their lives with me.  In return, I will try to ease their physical and emotional burdens, and hopefully guide them to experience the “sweetness” of pregnancy a little deeper.  I will offer weekly classes at Radiant Well-being Yoga Center starting August 7, 2008.
